Christmas Home Life

Merriest Christmas 2019

This year, my own anticipation of Christmas Day—of Jesus’ birthday—is rivaling that of my childhood, full of eagerness and excitement. But now as an adult, the expectancy is no longer about tangible gifts, fun festivities and holiday treats. Instead, it’s about the hope that Jesus brought to the weary world—and still brings today.

As I try with all my human might to understand the depth of God’s love for me,
as I reflect on His perfect plan putting the pieces in place to welcome his only Son into the world,
as I realize His omniscience regarding the future sacrifice of His Son,
I’m starkly aware of my own unworthiness even as I bask in the freedom He’s given me.
Because of Jesus yielding to God after asking to “let this cup pass from me” (Matt. 26:40),
my cup of life—both present and eternal—is overflowing.
Because of Jesus, I have a thrill of hope for the future and for all eternity.
Jesus was and is hope incarnate, sent by God for us all.

It’s fitting that the New Year begins only a week after Christmas, because all those fresh starts and self-betterment goals we make are truly only made possible by the birth and death of Jesus, who is the ultimate resolution for humankind.

So from our family to yours, we wish you the merriest of Christmases and a New Year full of hope.

I'm a full-time wife and semi-stay-at-home mom to four young kids. Day to day, I help my husband with his small business, but when I have any extra time, you can find me cooking or being active outdoors with my family. We live at the foothills of the North Georgia mountains and are embracing modern homesteading month by month.
