Easter Weekend

As our time in the greater Atlanta area is winding down, we had a great weekend celebrating Easter this past weekend with friends and family. On Good Friday, we made our way south to Decatur to give our goodbyes to some long-time friends, meet their sweet 6-week-old son and enjoy the weather and fresh air in a family-friendly neighborhood.

This year, my birthday was the day after Easter, so James gifted me all of Saturday morning to myself. I got groceries (alone!) then headed up to nearby outlet mall where I found a pair of appropriate shorts (not too short), some jean crops and a pair of Columbia hiking pants on clearance (RV trip on my mind).

After short naps, we took the kids to our neighborhood egg hunt, which was a bit soggy and drizzly, but luckily kids don’t care. Scarlett couldn’t stop staring at the big bunny, but Beau wouldn’t get near him. I think he had flashbacks of the neighborhood Santa pictures a few months ago.

Sunday morning we made it to the early Easter┬áservice at church at 8:30 a.m.–a first for us!

And late morning we headed up to my cousin’s breathtaking property in Jefferson, Georgia, for an Easter lunch with family. When I think of wanting a homestead one day, this is basically it but set on several more acres. I tried not to be creepy and take too many pictures of their property, but focused mainly on the kids playing and hunting eggs.

The Rowdy boys and little Scarlett had an amazing afternoon running around freely exploring the property and all the new-to-them toys. And they played their hearts out with their second cousins. James Michael tailed the older boys all over the property, Beau did his own thing as he enjoyed mowing and weed eating all the grass and Scarlett was doted on by older girls the entire afternoon. They were all in heaven.

I'm a full-time wife and semi-stay-at-home mom to four young kids. Day to day, I help my husband with his small business, but when I have any extra time, you can find me cooking or being active outdoors with my family. We live at the foothills of the North Georgia mountains and are embracing modern homesteading month by month.
