Liturgy of Love

In the quiet morning moments, I come to you, God.
You’ve beckoned me for months to slow down and sit
And I’m finally coming to you without tasks and to-dos planned.
I come to you as a daughter comes to her father
Simply seeking presence, comfort and place.

Oh, what freedom it is to slow down and savor these early morning moments.
They’ve excited my heart and renewed my mind.
Continue to teach me to sit at your feet in stillness without expectation.
Open up my eyes and my heart to your love daily
So that I can reflect that love to those in my life.

Your lovingkindness–even when I falter–overwhelms me.
Thank you for enveloping me in your perfect love despite my imperfections.
When I am swarmed by my children, who are fighting and arguing and disobeying,
Help me to put into practice 1 Corinthians 13.
Use me as a vessel to channel your love when I have nothing left to give.

Remind me that you have equipped me for this assignment earth-side so I do not grow weary.
For those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles.
They will run and not become weary.
They will walk and not faint.

God, forgive me for those times when my frustration or lack of control pushes out my ability to love well.
Humble me and help me to surrender my own expectations so I can parent biblically.
Allow these new morning mercies to pierce the darkness of my own heart,
Shattering my ideations of self-control and personal standards.
Piece me back together with your lovingkindness as I continue on my mission of motherhood.

Bless this ongoing journey.
Bless the tension.
Bless the bumpy road.
Bless the teachable moments.
Multiple my patience and lovingkindness to my kids so that they can see Jesus through me.

Amen.

I'm a full-time wife and semi-stay-at-home mom to four young kids. Day to day, I help my husband with his small business, but when I have any extra time, you can find me cooking or being active outdoors with my family. We live at the foothills of the North Georgia mountains and are embracing modern homesteading month by month.
