Just a little past 2.5 years, sometimes I reflect on all that personality bottled up inside James Michael and all I can do is shake my head and smile. He has truly come into his own the past few months, asserting his independence by proclaiming “I do it myself,” talking a million miles a minute and mimicking everything he sees.
I know there will always be a place in his heart for Mama, but right now, JM is truly a man’s man. He wakes up in the morning asking for Daddy, and if Daddy is at the gym early, he wants to know when he’ll be home. When JM hears him unlock the door in the morning, he yells “Daddy Daddy” and runs to greet him with a bear hug.
And it’s not just Daddy. Around family, uncles take priority over aunts and Grandpas or Pops take precedence over Grandmas and Memes.
There’s just something so special about a little boy who adores all the men in his life. I feel so fortunate that he has such great men as role models. Not perfect men, mind you, but good men with strong character, good morals and unparalleled integrity. And the one thing they all have in common is that they adore this little boy.
