PREGNANCY WEEK: 33
GENDER: Baby boy Beau.
WEIGHT GAIN: 21 pounds as of 32 weeks. I think I may be venturing into the ‘pound-a-week’ territory.
CRAVINGS: Who has time to indulge cravings with all energy going into unpacking the new house? I did buy some popsicles earlier this week. Love love love banana pops. Besides that, it’s all I can do to get dinner on the table at night. Steaks are on the menu for tonight–and I feel like it’s been sooooo long since I’ve had one that just the thought makes me excited. #meatisneat
MATERNITY CLOTHES: I’m living in cotton maternity yoga shorts and tanks when I’m not at work. A nice outfit would be one of my Target or Old Navy tops with jean shorts–yes, I said jean shorts, and I’m definitely not a Florida Gator. It was hard not to pass up the clearance jean shorts at Old Navy earlier this year, so they are now my only other shorts option besides workout clothes.
Now that the temps are in the 90s, I’m wearing my maternity dresses and skirts to work to stay cool. I considered wearing some wedges with the dress above, but then thought ‘what do I have to prove’ and decided on flats. I might break out the wedges when I’ll only be wearing them for a couple hours, not all day long.
WORKOUTS: I overdid it a bit on move day–looking back, the 50 or so trips up and down stairs carrying loads of stuff probably wasn’t wise. So I’ve tried to take it easy since then. Last week, CrossFit workouts were a wash because all extra time was spent unpacking, but that’s not to say I wasn’t active. This week, I made it to the gym on Monday for just a couple lifts. I did 5×5 bench press, working up to 95 lbs, then 5×5 shoulder press but did all sets at 45 lbs. Yesterday, I went to the gym with the intentions of doing something again, and managed to do three sled pushes with two 25lb plates before it was obvious JM wasn’t going to last long. So I retired early and took him home to eat and cool off.
SYMPTOMS: The afternoon of move day, I looked in the mirror and could swear little Beau had dropped, and it freaked me out a bit. Turns out, I must have been hallucinating because that night the bumped looked normal.
I’m still tired and exhausted, but that’s what moving at 8 months pregnant does to a body. Even on the mornings I could potentially sleep past 6 a.m., I wake up thinking of everything that needs to be done to the house. I’ve got roughly 7 weeks to mark everything (or the majority) off the to-do list, because once little Beau gets here, it will all be put on hold for a few months.
I’m feeling more and more Braxton Hicks, and as much as I t.r.y. not to carrying my 17.5 month old too much, he’s really still a baby in so many ways and it’s hard to avoid it. This means that my arm strength is very good, hence why 95lb bench presses aren’t all that bad. But I think as I get bigger and bigger it will become more and more exhausting to hold him.
