Natural Face and Hair Products with EWG Rankings

EWG hazard scoresI love when others share their favorite products, so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon. I am by no means a beauty blogger. Most days I’m in workout clothes and a ponytail with no makeup. That’s not just because I’m a stay-at-home mom, but because I love to work out and because my boys are very active. It’s the natural choice.

Finding affordable natural beauty products is hard, so I thought I’d share my current face and hair products that are fairly affordable.

Some products I bought after researching online, some I bought on a whim while perusing a store aisle and others I was gifted. Therefore, not all of these products have perfect EWG rankings, but they are still safer than many other unnatural alternatives.

natural face products

Beverly Hills Pure Maracuja Oil // Not listed on EWG, but is is pure and organic.
I found out about this oil a couple years ago from a blogger. I love using it in the winter when my face is a bit dryer as it definitely helps to hydrate.

Acure Organics Day Cream // EWG 2
I love the smell of this lotion. So citrusy and fresh smelling. I use this often as a daytime cream, alternating with the Rosehip Seed Oil mentioned below. This will be a perfect moisturizer for summertime because it’s light. It doesn’t contain sunscreen–which some people love and some people hate–so that’s just a characteristic to be aware of.

Acure Organics Night Cream // EWG 1
I love this product and will definitely reorder once my bottle runs out. I’m just now learning about the benefits of night creams and this one is perfect and really hydrates my face overnight. I’m sure that 2% chlorella does something good for me too–but I’m no scientist.

Life-Flo Organic Pure Rosehip Seed Oil // This brand is not listed on EWG, but the five others that are received a rating of 1.
I purchased this after a blogger raved about it and I discovered it was only $8. Currently, I use this as my moisturizer most mornings. I does smell like rose petals, and the smell is a little strong for me, but it dissipates after a minute or so. I love using oils as moisturizers because a little goes a long way.

Global Beauty Care Vitamin C Oil // Not listed on EWG.
My mother in law gave me this oil for Christmas. I alternate using it with my other two oils as a moisturizer.

Acure Organics Facial Toner // EWG 2
This is not a typical toner with alcohol that is harsh on your skin. It removes excess oil while hydrating your face at the same time. I spritz it on my face before applying day cream or moisturizing oil.

natural face washes

Acure Organics Brightening Facial Scrub // EWG 2
I love using this scrub a couple times a week to exfoliate my skin, which is crucial in both the summer and winter.

Burt’s Bees Renewal Cleanser // Not listed on EWG.
I use this cleanser at night to remove my makeup. It doesn’t dry my skin out at all but clears away all my makeup (on days that I wear makeup).

Acure Organics Facial Cleansing Creme // EWG 2
I use this about every other day to wash my face. So far, I really love the Acure facial products and I’ve heard so many good things about Argan oil.

Avalon Organics CoQ10 Repair Facial Cleansing Gel // EWG 3
This was another gift. I use this facewash a couple times a week. I’m wondering if all my wrinkles would go away if I used it every day. One can hope!

natural hair products

Giovanni 2chic Avocado and Olive Oil Super Potion // Not listed on EWG, but the Keratin & Argan Oil Potion received a 3.
I apply a squirt of this potion on days when I’m actually getting dressed in regular clothes and wearing makeup 🙂 It’s been a lifesaver with all the postpartum baby hairs.

Acure Organics Leave-In Conditioner // EWG 3
I use this a lot in the summertime, but I also use it often when my hair needs a cut and the ends are starting to get unhealthy.

Andalou Naturals Perfect Hold Hair Spray //EWG 2
I use this almost every day to help hold my flyaways back before I head to the gym to work out. Smells great and lasts a long time.

Nature’s Gate Calming Shampoo // EWG 4
I had no idea this would be rated a 4, especially since it was located with all the other natural items at my local grocery store. Lesson learned. I liked this shampoo and the smell, but will not be repurchasing.

Kiss My Face Whenever Shampoo // EWG 3
I love this shampoo. It lathers well and the lime scent is refreshing.

OrganicHead’s Brunette Shampoo // Not listed on EWG
I purchased this brand while browsing through Target one day. The shampoo lathers well and cleans my hair well, but after researching my other hair products on EWG, I have a feeling this would be score worse. This is when I remind myself that I need to download the EWG app on my phone to use while I’m in-store shopping!

OrganicHead’s Brunette Conditioner // Not listed on EWG
I use this daily to condition my hair and it works well. As with the shampoo, I have a feeling it would score poorer than my other hair products.
