Home Life

life lately

I haven’t had much time to blog lately; between caring for my boys and family visiting, I haven’t had any down time for me. And that’s ok, because I realize me time will come at a premium during the next few months, make that years. So in an effort to post a quick update on life the past week, here are a few snapshots that explain what we’ve been up to lately.

It’s a pretty eventful day if James Michael makes it out of his mismatched pajamas. Yes, we take neighborhood walks like this.

And James even takes him out in public in PJs.

And when he’s not in PJs, it’s usually because all he’s wearing is a diaper so I don’t have to do a bajillion loads of laundry every day.

But somehow, there is a neverending pile of laundry reeking of three very distinct smells. Beau’s clothes smell like urine from wetting through his diaper, JM’s smell like whatever food he spilled on his shirt (most often greek yogurt) and James’ smell like sweat from the gym. I fear the smells will only get stronger as the boys get older!

Little Beau has been growing long and strong. He was a pound more than his birth weight at his two week appointment and had also grown two inches. I retired the newborn clothing and we’re now using 0-3 months.

Those little cheeks have really started filling out, and they should since he never misses a meal. It’s rare for him to go three hours between feedings, day or night. He did have two three-hour stretches last night, and I felt like a new person when I woke up this morning. Hoping he can space out all nighttime feedings to every three hours as he puts on more weight.

jmbouncehouse

The biggest task has been keeping JM active, but between both grandmas, my sister and a couple friends, he’s had a fairly steady stream of entertainment. He loved the rescheduled July 4 event that downtown Kennesaw put on last weekend. I jumped in the bounce house with him and James went with him down a massive blow-up alligator slide.

His hilarious little antics always keep us entertained and laughing, that’s for sure.

bananabread

Besides the four loaves of banana bread I recently made, most meals I try to keep simple because by 5 p.m. I’m exhausted.

salad

We’ve had a lot of salads, because they are easy, nutritious and I seem to crave them postpartum.

And my mom and my friend Lauren have made us several meals, which are more precious than gold.

JM is still fascinated with his little brother, and “baby” may just have taken over as the most common word in his vocabulary.

So far he’s been so gentle with Beau, rubbing his belly and giving him slobbery kisses.

We’ve got a ton planned over the next two weeks, enough to keep JM entertained, that’s for sure. I’m also hoping that I’ll get a better handle on things if I start getting a little more sleep at night. Fingers crossed!

I'm a full-time wife and semi-stay-at-home mom to four young kids. Day to day, I help my husband with his small business, but when I have any extra time, you can find me cooking or being active outdoors with my family. We live at the foothills of the North Georgia mountains and are embracing modern homesteading month by month.
